FAQ's

This is a list that will likely grow over time, but for the moment this is all we've got. Have a question, email it to us - the email is to the right in that nifty little section called "Site Objective".

1) Is everyone here who posts an author? Yes, every single one of us.

2) Is there more than one moderator? Currently we have three plus our owner but only one of them has been typing the posts up so that's why you're only seeing one sign off. Don't worry, once we convince the others to stop being lazy you'll see more sign offs.

3) I have a question that I think might make a good post, how should I get it to you? You can email us any suggestions or questions you believe will make a good post to:  the-unvarnished-author@gmail.com

4) I've written something I think every new and established author out there should read, will you post it? If it's not a rant against the establishment (the government, the military or police officers) and is a well thought out and concise piece that doesn't attack anyone in any way, absolutely. Email it to us (see #3)

5) Can you explain the tags you have on your posts?
  • General - A passing of basic mundane information (ie: our vacation breaks and maintenance)
  • Be Seen - Tips to help get your name out to the general public in the "right" way as we see it
  • Helpful Tips - Mmm, these are helpful tips
  • Insider Info - Stuff we as authors know that a new author wouldn't have a clue about, this is all hush hush information from behind the scenes
  • Rules - These are rules that we live by that we are passing along and you can choose how or if you will as well
  • Submitting - Tips and info to make your submissions to publishers go smoother
  • The Scoop - Think of this one as the gossip rag of the group, it will have helpful info in it as well but it's mostly just a way for us to bitch about people without coming out and saying it's a bitchfest
6) I've noticed your owner doesn't post often, why? June is a busy little beaver with a couple rug rats and her husband, a full time job and a bunch of volunteer work she does on top of being an author. She reads through every post we come up with and signs off on them or sends us corrections or suggestions. She may not directly post but she is very much involved.

7) How do you come up with these posts? We all have a good amount of experience in the "trade" as we call it and have run into these situations ourselves or have heard about them from friends of ours. Hell, even friends of friends will pass along a good story (or bad depending on what it is) about something that's occurred. We also are part of several author groups where we get ideas from discussion topics that we've seen and want to put our own spin on it.
